How long does it take for my account to become activated?

As soon as we receive your new account information, then your account, on average, will be set up within two hours. Delays may be caused by error in payment, incorrect billing information, or miscommunication, but all such problems are and will be quickly straightened out.

Are there any hidden fees?

No, none at all. All fees are specified on our website.

Do you offer 24/7 technical support?

We're available as much as possible, and it will never take long to get back to you

What kinds of servers do you run?

We run RedHat 9.0 with the latest versions of Apache, PHP, mySQL, and cPanel.

Do you allow forums and chatrooms to be run?

The forums (PHPbb) and chatroom (PHPMyChat) that come along with cPanel are free to be used by all clients. In the case that you wish to host a different forum or chatroom than those that come along with cPanel, then we advise you to contact us first. It is sometimes the case that other forums or chatrooms may hinder server performance for yourself and other clients. If this is the case, then we will not allow you to run it.

Do you allow MP3s to be hosted?

We allow you to host your original work only. Please refer to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for further information.

What happens if I run over my bandwidth usage?

Your account will automatically be suspended, and you will have the option either to order additional bandwidth for the time period leading up to your next billing or to wait it out. There is no fee to reactivate your account.

Can I host "warez" or adult material?

No. Please, refer to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for further information.

What is your policy on spamming/bulk e-mail?

We have a strict no spam policy and consider spam any outgoing e-mail that is sent to more than ten people who did not ask to receive it. Opt-in e-mail on the other hand is acceptable as long as the recipients' opt-out/removal requests are honored. But for the sake of our servers, we request that our clients make an effort to limit their outgoing mail to no more than 250 per hour.

Our servers are located in the heart of Dallas, Texas.

Where is Black & White Hosting, LLC based?

We are based near the city of Indianapolis, Indiana.

If I buy a hosting account now can I upgrade later? Is there a charge?

You can certainly upgrade any package at any time and at no additional charge besides the cost difference between the two packages. We prefer that you let us know before your next billing date, so that we can adjust the payments properly. If you wish the upgrade before your next billing date, then please let us know so that we can determine the correct amount owed between then and the billing date.

Can I register my domain name with you?

We offer domain registration for most top level domain names, including the most popular .com, .net, and .org extensions. All domains start at $15.00 for one year, and pricing decreases if you register for more than one year.

Do you offer unlimited bandwidth or unlimited disk space?

We do not offer unlimited bandwidth or unlimited disk space on any of our hosting plans. As neither can conceivably be unlimited, be wary of any host that offers it. If you read the fine print, they are still limiting your usage.

Can I try your hosting before I buy?

We do not offer a live demo on a regular basis, but by special request you can get limited access to an account for testing purposes. Email sales@blackandwhitehosting.com for more information.

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

We do not offer a money back guarantee at this time. If you have paid for your account upfront, and you wish a refund for the months that have you have not used, please contact us.

I already have my own domain. What should I do?

We do not require you to purchase your domain from us. If you already have your own domain, click the indicated box to use your existing domain when signing up and then continue the sign-up process. You will have to change your nameservers to ns5.blackandwhitehosting.com and ns6.blackandwhitehosting.com after completing your sign-up.

Do you support international domains?

We will host international domains, but we do not offer international domain registration.

Do you offer Windows based hosting?

We are major proponents of Linux hosting and therefore do not offer Windows hosting.

I forgot my password, what should I do?

You will need to contact us and be able to verify that you are the account owner.


Control Panel

Will my account come with a web-based control panel?

Yes, all accounts come with one installed.

How do I log in to my control panel?

Visit http://www.yourdomain.com:2082 to access your control panel.

How do I uninstall a chatroom?

Log in to FTP and manually delete the folder.


DNS Issues

How long does it take for my domain to work?

The standard amount of time it takes is between 24 to 72 hours depending on a variety of factors. This is not to say that it won't ever take less than 24 hours or more than 72 hours, but it's unlikely.

I ordered a domain through your host; do I need to worry about updating the nameservers?

Because your domain was ordered in conjunction with one of our hosting plans, there is no need for you to worry about updating the nameservers. We will take care of this for you.

What are the DNS servers I may need to change my domain to?

How do I cancel my account?

While we're sad to see you go, this is what you do:

All requests for account termination must be submitted via our Cancellation Request Form. Failure to do so will lead to your account being automatically renewed. For security reasons, at no time can we accept an account cancellation through e-mail.
